Greg had one last hurrah in the jumperoo. It's a happy alternative to being trapped in his prison (aka playpen) while I make dinner.
"So much fun!"

As I was cooking away in the kitchen, I heard little giggles coming from the other side of the room. Here's what I found:
"C'mere, Hank, let me poke out your eyeball."
"Let me pull on your ears!"
The beagle had lied down next to the jumperoo by choice. He was not expecting that much attention, but he took it like a trooper.

Greg loves to crawl around with a toy in his mouth (and sometimes with one in each hand too!). I've been trying to get a picture of this phenomenon, but had been unsuccessful until this point. Unforunately Hank walked by. Thanks, Hank.
"Watch out, Hank. I'm coming through!"

Greg is enjoying his Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Learning Home, aka the "door toy." I got it on Craigslist a while back and just brought it out for him a few days ago. He loves to open and close the door. On Sunday he figured out how to ring the doorbell and turn the house numbers.
"Mama, I'll show you how to make the lamp light up and make that bell sound."
"Just push that purple button right there."
"What do these things do?"
"You can spin them!"

Trying out blueberries - Gregory approved

Jumperoo weight limit = 25 pounds. Greg's weight = ~26 pounds. It appears that it is unfortunately time to retire the jumperoo. He still loves it!
He's a blur since he is jumping so fast!
"I love the jumperoo!"

We had a very busy Saturday!

Andrew participated in the Gladiator 5K, an running event that also includes obstacles such as climbing walls, a cargo net, and a mud pit. He had a good time!

A family from playgroup had a whole bunch of us over for a cookout lunch. It was great to meet a lot of the dads! The little ones played inside for a bit, then went out to the pool. They had a blast and the parents enjoyed swapping stories for a few hours

We finished off the evening with Jess, including dinner at Red Lobster. Cheddar biscuits! Greg was not in the mood to sit while the rest of us were eating. Andrew quickly finished his dinner and then took Greg for a few laps around the outside of the restaurant in his stroller.

"How are the interwebs flowing today, Mama?"
Pensive Gregory
That's more like it!
"Mama, try this blue ring, it's delicious!"
"This red ring is pretty tasty too though."

There was a four-foot-long snake down by the pond. I asked (aka pleaded with) Andrew to please encourage the snake to move along. With the intelligence of our canine trio, who knows what kind of trouble they could get into with a snake. We soon realized that the snake was ensnared in the pond net. Great.

Andrew - being braver than I could ever be - was able to free the snake by cutting away the net with scissors. My job was to keep an eye on the snake's head to warn Andrew of an attack and to randomly say, "Be careful!" The snake slithered away to the hide in the rocks behind the waterfall. That is, after it got caught in the net again and Andrew had to help it out. Don't eat the frogs, Mr. Snake!

We met with our playgroup friends to take a walk around Lake Pine. Andrew and I enjoy that trail. It is a paved 2-mile loop and the scenery is nice. In the morning there is often a row of turtles on a particular log, and that day was no exception!

Photographic proof - Greg isn't happy all of the time
(just most of the time!)

In the late afternoon, I glanced up in the trees behind our house and noticed a heron perched there. (It's not every day that I take pictures of two herons!) Mr. or Mrs. Heron is not a welcomed sight in our yard - they like to eat the fish in our pond. We have resorted to leaving a net on the pond year-round, so luckily there was no buffet for the heron that day.
Do you see something in the tree? Let's zoom in...
"Hi, I'm here to eat all of your fish. Take off the net, please."

This week we were able to catch the Gregory in his natural state in the weekly picture - a toy in each hand!

I planned on taking pictures at a park with our playgroup friends in the afternoon. Greg had other plans.

I put him in his crib at 2:00 PM for his afternoon nap. He proceeded to chatter on and off until finally falling asleep at 2:45 PM. Playgroup started at 3:30 PM, but I still had hopes that we could join them. He had been taking shorter afternoon naps recently. Alas, he woke up at 4:19 PM - too late to go join them. Oh well!

We were able to take a nice long walk with Andrew and the dogs in the evening.

Greg has been trying new foods lately. He enjoyed mozzarella cheese on the first attempt, but hasn't liked it since. Sliced wheat bread is a huge hit!
"So many choices!"
"I'll go with the bread."

We joined our playgroup friends at a park for some blanket time. Greg was the oldest baby! It started to rain on us after a while, but it was time to depart anyway.
